A former Librarian at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Taiwo Akinyosoye, was murdered in his house in Akure, the Ondo State capital, in the early hours of Thursday. Mr. Akinyosoye was, until his death, the Chairman of the Adebowale Community Estate Landlord Association. According to deceased’s wife, Justina Akinyosoye, the hoodlums invaded their home around 4:30 a.m. and held the whole family hostage before killing her husband. The wife said she woke up to go to the toilet but found out that there was no water in the reservoir and had to open door to power the pumping machine.
She said that the assassins, who had been in the compound, pounced on her and her husband and took them to separate rooms in the house. Mrs. Akinyosoye said she was ordered out of the room naked and was put at the driver’s seat and ordered to drive out of the Estate with her husband bundled into the booth of her car. “I was directed towards Ondo road and turned towards a bush where I was asked to close my eyes and by the time I open my eyes, they have left with my husband body. “I raised alarm and was able to cover myself with cloth at a nearby church and when we search the area, we discovered the dead body of my husband,” she said. A resident of the community told our reporter that the incident was immediately reported at the Fanibi Police Station ,saying that police took prompt action by depositing the remains of Mr. Akinyosoye in the morgue.
