Pastor In Court For Duping Congregation

A 37-year-old pastor, Kolawole Olugbenga,  on Friday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with defrauding a member of his congregation of N214,000. Olugbenga, who lives at No. 19, Arowoshola St., Imota area of Ikorodu, is facing a charge of fraud. The prosecutor, Sgt. Iyabo Johnson, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in 2011.
According to him, the pastor obtained the amount from a businesswoman, Mrs Mosunmola Fashola, on the pretext of praying over it.

Boko Haram Kills 35 In Borno Village Attack

Suspected members of Islamist extremist group Boko Haram have attacked a village in Borno, killing at least 35 people and wounding 14, the military said on Friday.
“Boko Haram people attacked the village on the ground that they have refused to cooperate with them, that they refused their message,” defence spokesman Brigadier General Chris Olukolade told AFP of the incident in Dumba. “The report that was presented has it that 35 people were killed and 14 wounded.”
The attack occurred on Monday, but the information had not become public until Friday with phone lines cut in the region and the village located in a remote area.

Mrs Tejumade Alakija , Daughter Of Former Ooni Of Ife Is Dead.

Mrs Tejumade Alakija, the first female  Head of Service in the Old Oyo State  and daughter of the late Ooni of Ife,  Oba Adesoji Aderemi,  is dead. The death of   Alakija was confirmed by her younger brother,  Mr Adelowo Aderemi,  in an interview with  in Ibadan on Friday.
The 88-year-old Alakija died on Friday morning at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after  a brief  illness.

Cameroonian lady buys Nigerian 3-day-old baby for N1.2m

A  42-year-old Cameroonian lady who gave her name as Evelyn Atemkeng was, Wednesday, arrested  in Calabar with  a three-day-old baby she allegedly bought for N1.2 million. Mrs Atemkeng accompanied by her 70-year-old mother, Anastasia Fambong, was said to have bought the baby boy from a matron of a clinic in Delta State into whose account she paid the N1.2 million. Commander of the Cross River State Immigration Command,  Mr Samuel Ichoi, who ordered the arrest of the woman told News Men in his office that his men accosted the lady while boarding a ship to Cameroon and after interrogation, she confessed that she bought the baby.
